If you currently use Shortcut to house some ideas or plan features, you can import data into Productmotion either as Feedback or Features.

Prerequisites for Shortcut Import

In order to connect to Shortcut, there are a few things you need to do ahead of connecting.

  1. Log into Shortcut.com and find the workspace you are interested in

  2. Copy this token / keep it safe as you will have to enter it in the next part of the import setup.

Starting an Import Session

  1. Start an import session by navigating to the import screen

  2. Click on the Start Import button associated with Shortcut

  3. A dialogue box will pop up asking you to input a Shortcut API Key. Enter the value you saved during the prerequisite section.

  4. If the API Key is valid, you will be brought to the Shortcut Import Session Interface. By default, the search box is an empty. You will need to use Shortcut search operators to construct a Shortcut query and search for items. If you need help with the Shortcut operators please refer to their help article here.

  5. Once a valid query is entered, you will see results on the left side of the screen. You can pick and choose specific cards to bring over, or click on the "Import all in search results" to import the entire query.

Importing

Once you have chosen specific items for import, or have checked the "Import all in search results" option, you can choose to import these items as Features or Feedback. Additionally, you can choose labels or objectives as relevant to add on to the items when they are imported.

When you are ready, click on the "Import Selected" button to begin the import. You will be brought to a loading screen while Productmotion is importing your data. Feel free to navigate away if you would like to do other things in the meantime.

When the import is complete, you can either choose to go back into your import session to import more items, or shut down the import session. Note that you can only have one import session active at a time. To start importing data with another data source, you should close off the existing one.
